Friends and Felines,
Our cats handle heat differently than we do. While we have sweat glands throughout our bodies to help control our temperature. Cats have only a limited number of these glands. It’s up to us as good pet parents to help our furry friends stay cool during these hot Chicago summers!
Our feline friends are very clever at hiding when they are uncomfortable or experiencing pain. For this reason, it's imperative that we pay close attention to any behavioral changes during these warmer months. Signs of heat stroke in cats include:
If you notice your cat exhibiting any signs of heat stroke, get them to the nearest emergency veterinarian immediately. Until you actually arrive at the ER, you can spray cool (not freezing,) water to them.
